COATING REMOVAL

THT Flooring uses the method of grinding rather than sand and/or shot-blasting to remove existing floor coatings. Sand and/or shot-blasting creates a visible disruption in the uniformity of the concrete surface and subsequently affects the smooth appearance of any coatings applied. During the process of shot-blasting, a large number of steel balls are propelled in a vertical motion with great force into the concrete causing weakening of the concrete and “chipping” of its surface (causing an uneven appearance). The process which THT Flooring utilizes is the grinding of the surface rather than shot-blasting- this involves horizontal mechanisms therefore avoiding the penetrating damage of the material, the uneven results of vertical applications and the subsequent lack of uniformity of any coatings or top-cover flooring treatments applied. Our procedure removes adhesives from linoleum, glues, carpet and hardwood floorings, tars, mastiff, urethane, epoxy and tile materials. Some coatings or adhesives may be resistant to effective removal with grinding- in this case our technicians may use scarifying tools to further facilitate removal prior to the grinding procedure. |
